Summer Camp for children with hearing loss. Leading the presentation about the Lions Wilderness Camp for Deaf Children will be Franklin Anderson, Lions board vice president of Camp Ross Relles near Nevada City.
The Lions Service for Children Projects addresses needs for children in disadvantaged circumstances. Deaf and hard-of hearing kids often lack social opportunities that other children enjoy because of communication difficulties. At Camp Ross Relles, the deaf and hard-of-hearing child may enjoy camping with their peers in a setting especailly designed for children with hearing loss.

Hear! Here! The Woodland Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America [HLAA] meets at the Woodland Community and Senior Center located at 2001 East Street Woodland and at the Davis Senior Center at 646 A Street, Davis. Assisted Listening Devices are available at all our meetings.
March 25th. Meeting: Our next meeting is in Woodland on Monday the 25th of March at 10 a.m. Our speaker will be Audiologist Adriana Goyette who conducted doctoral research on ways to improve the lives of people with Hearing Loss and Tinnitus (ringing in the ears). If you suffer from tinnitus, Adriana will have great information for you! And if you have friends who live with tinnitus or hearing loss, invite them for this special speaker!! Adriana is originally from Brazil and enjoys speaking Portuguese and Spanish.

Frustrated looking for captioned movies available on Netflix? Check out www.Phlixie.com a new app designed to make it easy to locate accessible titles. The creators say that they are still in the works of improving the layout of the site but they wanted to get the app out for use by the public as soon as possible.They will continue to fine tune it.

It was announced today that Howard Weinstein was awarded the 2009 Economic Development Award for his company's, Solar Ear, development of a rechargeable digital aid that costs under $100.00, as well as the development of rechargeable batteries which last from 1-2 years and are usable in any hearing aid.
